November 27th, 2020
Hello Curling Members, we hope this message finds everyone well and in good spirits.
On Thursday November 12th, 2020 the Alberta Government and AHS introduced restrictions to flatten the curve of the Coronavirus for the period of two weeks – Friday, November 13th through Friday, November 27th.
During this time all curling leagues at Inglewood were paused along with open practice ice.
While the curling facility was closed the ice staff did the required ice maintenance and was preparing the ice for the re – opening of the curling facility for Saturday, November 28th.
Then on Tuesday, November 24th the Alberta Government and AHS extended the closures and introduced new measures to halt the spread of the Coronavirus for another three weeks. The new closures are from Tuesday November 24th, 2020 – Tuesday, December 15th, 2020. We are hopeful that the curling leagues at Inglewood will be able to resume on December 16th, 2020.
Curling Alberta did apply for an exemption on behalf of the curling clubs and unfortunately they were not successful – the application was not approved.
There is NO league curling at Inglewood during this new extension – team sports are still not permitted during the closure.
The Curling Committee will be meeting with Management to discuss options and scenarios moving forward and we will communicate this to our curling members next week. One of these scenarios is the availability/viability of practice ice during the closure.
We know that this pause has caused difficulties for some of our curling members but we know that this too shall pass if we continue flattening the Covid curve. Stay safe, strong and healthy everyone!
