Hello Curling Members,
Welcome to the month of February…it’s hard to believe that there are only 8 weeks left in the 2022/2023 curling season. I wanted to share with you what will be happening once we close for the season on March 19th right after the Club Championships. We will be closing 2 weeks early in order to prepare for the start of our Curling Facility Restoration Plan.
As many of you know, we are investing 1.6 million into the curling facility over the next 10 years. The first big project that will be addressed is the concrete slab on sheets 4, 5 & 6.
We have hired a company that specializes in refrigerated concrete flooring. This phase of the plan will be completed in the spring and we will be ready to make ice for the 2023/2024 curling season starting in September.
Other projects that are part of the Curling Facility Restoration Plan.
2024 – Replace the control and electrical panel
2026 – Replace compressor # 1
2029 – Replace the concrete slab on sheets 1, 2 & 3
2031 – Replace compressor # 2 and the heat exchanger
Some other exciting news, Inglewood Curling Club is partnering with Sport Calgary – we are hosting an All Sport One City Try Curling event on Saturday February 18th from 5 – 7pm. We will be showcasing our facility and introducing potential new curlers to the sport that have never tried it before.
If you know anyone that is interested, please have them register with Sport Calgary – registration opens on February 6th https://sportcalgary.ca/all-sport-one-day
